Paul Gilbert - George Washington Rules
WROC is my first vocal album since 2016. The lyrics were inspired by the etiquette book, "George Washington's Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior." I truly enjoyed turning Washington's Rules of Civility (WROC) into ROCK songs! I hope my vocal and guitar melodies will stir your heart and improve your table manners. Spit Not in the Fire!

This song felt like a good album closer to me. It's the only song where I wrote all the lyrics myself, instead of pulling from the Washington rule book. Both the ideas and the music of this song are simple and straight-ahead, except for the guitar solos, where I threw in gospel chord changes that whip by at lightning speed. There's no way my brain could handle improvising that quickly, so I worked out a couple of phrases that I knew would have the right notes. I used both phrases. Overall, I'm enormously happy and thankful at how well this album turned out. I hope some of the melodies stick with you, and if you find yourself being a percentage or two more civil, so much the better!
