Greetings from Russia! You may have heard that patriotism is the main national idea in Russia. It is a spiritual paper clip uniting our citizens. At least this is the official position of the Kremlin. Although in reality Russian patriots are different.
What do you know about patriotism in Russia? Firstly, some of the so-called patriots benefit from their declared civilian positions. They are notable figures of state propaganda. And they hysterically scream about their love for the motherland at each telecast. That is their business. Nothing personal.
What should you know about Russian patriots? Secondly, many Russians are victims of propaganda. They truly hate America, Europe and the Western lifestyle. And they think that this is the main sign of patriotism. Of course, if the next day the rhetoric of propaganda change, these people will be delightfully praise America and curse China or any other country, announced a new enemy. Because they are very suggestible people and don't want to think logically.
Thirdly, we have adequate people, who understand that Russia is their homeland. And in most cases, no one cares about them. Even in the homeland. Therefore it would be oddly and presumptiously to think that any other country will take these people with open arms. Consequently, they must accept their fate, live in Russia, and love the motherland. One can say that these are forced patriots or patriots because of hopelessness.
