Many people sell water for high profits during droughts. But not Patrick Mwalua. Patrick fills up dried watering holes instead! He has been delivering 12,000L litres of water several times a week during the drought. Some of the animals even recognise and wait for his blue rental truck.
Patrick has set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise funds to help pay for his weekly trips. Each truckload costs him $250. With the help of donations he hopes to buy his own water truck and dig a borehole in the park.
40% of the animals in the Tsavo West Nature park died during the last drought. The water shortage also causes tension between wildlife and locals.
