Hello,
Let me introduce myself ; My name is Jolien, I'm 25 years old and I live in Belgium. In my spare time I like to make wooden toys and document the process on my YouTube channel. I try to post 2 videos a month.
Will you come on a journey with me? My woodworking journey.
In 2015 I came across some videos on YouTube about making wooden toys. I watched these videos and I thought to myself "hey, could I make this too?" so I started with something simple . I made three wooden toy airplanes for my cousins as a Christmas gift. It made me so happy to see a big smile on their faces when I handed over my gift. Thanks to this I decided to set up a challenge for myself: making as many wooden toys as possible for underprivileged children. I did this in 2016. Christmas 2016 I handed out 70 toys to underprivileged children.
In 2018 I sold 90 toys at a Christmas market. The proceeds went to an organization that offers short term care to people with a mental and / or physical disability. In 2019 I want to continue this and make 100+ wooden toys for the same charity as in 2018.
I really enjoy doing this work, so I would like to continue to do it! Occasionally I also make miniature vehicles out of wood, these I make for friends and family or as a commission.
I also show the whole process of all the wooden toys on my YouTube channel, Jolien Brebels. I've been overwhelmed with all your warm and supporting comments and mails 💝.
