Melanie Rodriguez Romo, 12, has dreamed of becoming a doctor since she was just three years old. So much so, she decided to request it as her Make-A-Wish following her life-saving kidney transplant.
Partnering with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the kidney and transplant teams at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Lurie Children’s kidSTAR Medical Education Program, her wish was granted. It was the first “Doctor-for-a-Day” wish granted in Illinois by Make-A-Wish. ____
