“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.” Galatians 5:22
The word fruit here is the Greek word karpos, which is where we get our phrase carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is the passageway in the wrist through which the median nerves and tendons of the hand travel. Even so karpos is the mechanism through which that which is at the heart of a tree, or the substance of a tree, comes forth and is seen. What is inside is made manifest in the fruit.
The Bible says that a tree is identified by its fruit. When the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we will bear the fruit of the Spirit.
