___ Beyond the Missouri Sky was the first duet album by Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny who were both born in Missouri, good friends since the 1970s. This album was released on February 25, 1997 though the Verve label. At the 40th Grammy Awards, they received the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Performance (Haden's first and Metheny's tenth).
