A partial lunar eclipse was visible over Athens on August 28, as the Earth’s shadow gradually covered August’s full “Sturgeon Moon.” About 84% of the Moon was obscured at the best visible stage around 0350 GMT, just minutes before it set. The eclipse is known as the Sturgeon Moon, a name linked to the seasonal abundance of sturgeon in North America’s Great Lakes.
