Active Towns | Part Five of my ride in the countryside outside Delft (Westland region) - The Finale! @ActiveTowns | Uploaded December 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
The finale of my ride-along video explorations in the Midden-Delfland countryside and farmlands just outside of the city of Delft in the Westland region in the South Holland Province of The Netherlands. In this episode, I ride the rural cycle paths (fietspaden) back into the city of Delft and up to my comfy apartment, where I stayed for nearly three weeks last November (2022).

I would love to see more places around the world embrace this concept of safe and inviting cycle routes through open spaces and farmlands connecting people to the surrounding villages and cities as well as meaningful destinations. These rural Dutch cycle paths are truly a joy to ride.

Background:
Hi Everyone! My name is John Simmerman, and I’m a health promotion and public health professional with over 30 years of experience. Over the years, my area of concentration has evolved into a specialization in how the built environment influences human behavior related to active living and especially active mobility.

Since 2010, I've been exploring, documenting, and profiling established, emerging, and aspiring Active Towns wherever they might be while striving to produce high-quality multimedia content to help inspire the creation of more safe and inviting, environments that promote a "Culture of Activity" for "All Ages & Abilities."

The Active Towns Channel features my original video content and reflections, including a selection of podcast episodes and short films profiling the positive and inspiring efforts happening around the world as I am able to experience and document them.
