Parkland prosecutors asked Broward Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer to call on law enforcement to interview a juror who said she felt threatened by another member of the jury during deliberations for Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz's sentencing trial. A jury recommended that Cruz be spared the death penalty and recommended him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. November 1, 2022 the judge will hear the victim's families impact statements before she makes her final sentencing decision. Florida law allows a judge to set aside the jury recommendation and impose the final sentence.
