In this video, you will learn how to write the equations of parallel and perpendicular lines. We go through five full examples, showing you the two main ways to approach these problems: the Slope Intercept Form and the Point Slope Form.
The key to mastering this is understanding slope:
Parallel Lines must have the same slope so they never cross.
Perpendicular Lines have opposite reciprocal slopes, meaning they cross at a perfect right angle. You flip the fraction and change the sign to find the perpendicular slope!
We use these rules to find the exact equation of a line that goes through a specific point.
