Gaz Rendar | Papercraft Pokemon Red & Blue Title Theme on a PO-128 MegaMan Pocket Operator @GazRendar | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
When it first arrived in North America, Pokemon wasn't an initial surefire video game hit. It took some time to build up momentum. However, the collecting and leveling aspects of the game were too addictive for people to resist, and having some Pokemon be rare or exclusive on the Red cartridge compared to the Blue cartidge (and vice versa) was an ingenious marketing move. Luckily, this game took advantage of the Game Boy link cable to trade and duel Pokemon.
Here I cover the title track to Pokemon Red and Blue using just a Teenage Engineering PO-128 MegaMan Pocket Operator. I had to record some of the sounds and early parts of the intro screen first, then recreate the main part of the score due to only having 16 patterns on the PO-128.
The Pocket Operator was recorded on a Zoom R20 multitracker.
I also blended some of my typical papercraft LoTech FX with stop motion animation to reenact the title screen intro. Enjoy and don't forget to subscribe!
