Alright, so this fun little piece was supposed to be for an E3 leak. I was asked to write something that could work as a Battle track within the Paper Mario universe. Eventually, the leak was decided against so it was pretty much shut down which means you get to listen to this cute jazzy track.
Making Paper Mario music was interesting. I heavily drew inspiration from sticker star's and color splash's battle music and came up with a "compositional roadmap" then wrote a typical mario melody following the ABAC format. Some key elements I took away from the two references was a sort of "chord stab" where in this case is played after the main melody in the first half. Another was creating a negative secondary melody that quickly finds itself back into a positive melody. For whatever reason, the idea of an acoustic "electro-swing" style ended up working very well with the piano. It's actually my favorite part in the whole song. Paper Mario is notorious for incorporating the famous World 1-1 them into its soundtrack someway or how so towards then end before the cooldown I tried to emulate that.
Overall, this was a very fun project and I learned a lot about composition in trying to make this. I'm actually sad I didn't get to help troll you guys for this one. Hope you like. Share with your friends. If this gets enough likes, i'll consider making more for you guys. ;)
