The discourse that follows is from the 29th December 1992. Papaji talks about the need for the Mind to be still. "Without stillness of mind enlightenment is not possible. Unless the mind is rooted out, you cannot be happy or free. The mind can be stilled if you give up the things that are dearest to you by discerning: Is it worthwhile, real, and permanent? You have to still the mind by staying with a teacher, or by reasoning out what is real, or by constant meditation. When the house is on fire you jump out the window and save yourself. Holding on something that is not permanent is not wisdom. These attachments won’t pay in the long run."

PAPAJI: When heart meets heart there’s no meeting and no melting. It removes all concept of meeting and separation. It is not the heart that melts, it’s that heart neither outside nor inside. No bodies, no mind, no senses. That Heart is Being itself.
- DANIEL: Through inquiring Who am I?, I have began to see habit of 'I.'
PAPAJI: Don't touch the 'I.' It is finished. Inquiry is finished. Now, from here you ask me the question, not using the word 'I' again. What is your experience in this not knowing?
