This scenario is going better than I expected. The USA East Coast Scenario seems to be the most challenging scenario of the grand campaign. However, I have had problems in past playthroughs with the USA mid west scenario if you sacrifice too many units on the east coast. Surely carefull prestige management and choosing the correct unit upgrades is as important as battelefield strategy, particullarily this late in the grand campaign.
