Discovered by O. F. Cook, a botanist, in 1923, Palm Canyon is possibly the only place in Arizona where native palm trees grow. About forty California fan palms are hidden high up within a narrow slot. These non-date-bearing palms are challenging to get to, although a half-mile trail leads you to a lookout.
