Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam was back in practice at Lord’s on Tuesday as the team remains “hopeful” he will be fit to play in the Second Test against England, which gets underway in London on Thursday (27th August).
The batter missed the opening defeat at Headingley because of a finger injury.
England dominated the match, winning in three days by an innings and 103 runs.
Speaking at a media conference on Tuesday, bowling coach Umar Gul was positive about Azam's chances.
"I think he looks good. He batted in all three nets with the throw downs, with the fast balls and spin, and so we are hopeful that he will be available for the game and today he was looking good. Yeah, he batted well today in the nets."
The Shaheens suffered a wave of criticism after their tame defeat in Leeds and are on a run of 14 defeats in 19 games.
