This is a documentation of initial results from painting my roof with hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide). I spent $20 to buy 100 lb of lime, and changed peak roof temps from 145 degrees F, to eventually 90 degrees F after fully painting the roof with outside temps reaching highs of 90-95 and lows of 68-75. This eliminated the need for a/c and saves around $70 (700 Kw-h) a month in electricity, plus wear and tear on the HVAC components.
Final results in follow up video after fully painting roof and surrounding concrete (heat sinks). I'll show mixing the lime and applying it with the roller, plus rain effects (there were none).
