I've been working on this illustration for the login screen of a side project I'm chipping away at, and instead of doing the reasonable thing of grey-boxing it and leaving the illustration for later, I was in a painting mood. At least, I was in a painting mood two weeks ago when I started this damn thing. I swear, whenever I decide to record the painting process for something, it feels like it takes ten times longer, because of all the invisible eyes scrutinizing my every movement...
Anyway, the result of all of that was a little short of 20 hours of footage. This here's just a preview - a highly sped up timelapse of the process. Over the next while, I'm going to be taking that footage and releasing it in chunks (still sped up, but not as much) with commentary (probably text) explaining various concepts we come across, and why I make particular decisions.
I'm not sure when I'm going to be publishing those (for now I'm planning on going back to working on my side project), but it should be soon. Either way, if you're interested, make sure you're subscribed to this channel so you get notified when those start rolling out.
And remember - if you're a beginner, learn your fundamentals first. It's time consuming, it's tedious, it's a pain in the ass, but it's worth it. I've got plenty of lessons covering that sort of material over at drawabox.com
