Follow along with Linda's process in her episode as she creates a glorious impressionist landscape, "Orange Light Sarasota". Linda's impressionist landscape style is colourful, intuitive, evocative and LUMINOUS. Discover how she nails down that luminosity in this episode, filmed by our US East Coast team and hosted by Alan James.

For me, painting is a pilgrimage – a journey into the soul and the mystery of creation.

Through color, lines and brushstrokes I portray the essence of my subjects at their highest moments.

Whether I am painting  on a sun-drenched beach in Florida or Maui, in the Hudson Valley, near Italian castles or French chateaus, my "plein air" paintings capture the spirit of nature at their most inspiring times.

With years of classical training under my belt, my hand can easily follow my heart when creating a work of art that not only represents the scene but also allows the soul of the place to come forth.

Years of study with shamans has sharpened my understanding of energy, enhancing my ability to capture the invisible bringing life to each canvas.”

Ampersand Gessobords and Pastelbords and Floater Frames

Our mission is to make exceptional surfaces that artists trust. Made with conservator-quality materials and sealing processes, no other panel on the market protects an artist’s work like Ampersand.

Most art stores in the US carry these and they will also create custom sized panels. Go to their website to find an art store nearby.

I use and love Ampersand:

I use Gessobord panels because when I want to create luminosity, the smooth panel assists in my process. This helps me create colors in the paintings that glow. They do have a textured finish if someone likes the look or feel of a canvas. I personally prefer the smoothness of the Gessobord. It comes toned or white.

When using the Pastelbords I like the fact that it is on a hardwood so it doesn’t require the additional layer behind it like working on paper must have. It is sanded and comes in either tones or white. I can use a wet medium like watercolor or an acrylic ink to tone or layout the base color underneath the pastels layers without affecting the integrity of the ground.

The floater frames are perfect for a contemporary look which is popular.

The easel I am using today is by Richeson.

My pastel instructor sets include:
The Richichi Signature Color and Energy set of 80 prismatic soft pastels by Jack Richeson company. There are light, medium and dark values of each color in the rainbow prism.
I believe it is the best pastel set on the market because it contains the entire value scale and color wheel. It is all I take when traveling.

My oil instructor set includes:
6 piece warm and cool primary color set of oils plus white,
a set of Gray matters brushes that work well with the smoother panels or on canvas,
the Grey Matters palette paper, palette knives and soap.

The suppliers of the instructor sets can be found on my website RichichiArt.com under workshop supplies.
