From the Tubac to the Grand Canyon, hundreds of plein air painters participated in the 3rd annual Paint Arizona Day on April 4, 2026. The practice of observing and painting directly in the environment began in the 1830s and is now widely practiced across the globe. Steinfeld Arts Warehouse - A Home for Creativity
The Steinfeld Arts Warehouse stands as a vibrant creative landmark in the heart of Tucson’s Historic Warehouse Arts District. Built in 1907, this storied structure is the city’s oldest surviving industrial building—a place where history and imagination continue to meet.
Operated by the Warehouse Arts Management Organization (WAMO), a nonprofit dedicated to preserving affordable spaces for artistic expression, the Steinfeld is sustained through the collective vision and commitment of artists who believe that creativity flourishes in community.
Within its historic walls, artists, makers, performers, and audiences come together to cultivate a dynamic cultural ecosystem. Studios, galleries, and creative businesses share space with exhibitions, classes, live music, poetry readings, literary events, and performances, making the Steinfeld Arts Warehouse a living testament to the enduring power of art to connect, inspire, and transform.
Rescued, Reconstructed and Reborn
The fashion industry contributes up to ten percent of global carbon emissions, according to many estimates. Tucson-based designer Karen Lucaks has spent over twenty years trying to counteract that trend. She takes vintage textiles headed into the waste stream and gives them new life through her art, design and advocacy.
