#MusicalTheatre: Today is the 5th anniversary of my Instagram account @LoveOfMusicals. This is our ‘Page to Stage Medley’ to celebrate this occasion. I can’t believe I’ve been running this account for half a decade! This is a totally crazy idea to create a medley in just five days, but I thought if we could put a medley together at Spirit in three days, surely we can do this- and we did it! When I asked people what I should do to make this occasion, some suggested doing something that’s special to me. Two of the most important things to me are no doubt books and theatre, so I decided to write a medley with songs from musicals based on books. Some of these here are my favourite shows and books. I started from putting some songs together, transposing them to the right key and create some transitions between them. You can hear some of my not-so-well piano playing here.
I think it’s incredible that all these amazing performers learn this in just under three days. Many of the tunes are new to them. Special thanks to Charlotte and Allie for their help. To be able to make something like this reminds me of how lucky I am to be able to work with these incredible people. And this is exactly what make this place special. It’s not just an account, I think we’ve built a community here where people share the same passion. It’s where people connect with each other through music, through theatre. As you can see here, we have performers from all over the world- from the UK, the US, Australia and Germany in this video.
A very well done to all the performers here. I cannot thank you enough for taking part in this. Wherever you are in the world watching this, I thank you for all your support to myself and the performers. Hope you enjoy this video. Here’s to another five years!
