Performed using MAME 0.273 on 1/18/25-1/19/25
A perfect score in Pac-Man is achieved by eating every dot, blue ghost, and bonus item possible.
After level 20, the final difficulty increase occurs, and levels 21-255 are identical. This means that you must maintain focus for over three hours to clear that level 235 times.
A level is considered "cleared" when 244 dots have been consumed. On level 256, an overflow error causes the right half of the screen to be filled with garbage. The stage is playable, but there are not enough dots to advance beyond level 256. There are nine edible dots on the right-hand side of the screen - some are invisible, some are the wrong color. These nine dots are regenerated each time a life is lost; this means that in order to achieve the maximum score, one must reach level 256 without dying at all, in order to maximize the number of times those dots are regenerated.
The final, perfect score is 3,333,360. The score display only goes up to 6 digits, and rolls over three times during the course of this four-hour gameplay.

Finally a run that doesnt suck lmao
Long way to go here. Bad alignment into 2nd glitch caused all sorts of problems, but I was somehow able to adjust to the clip and get a recovery that worked. Lost about half a second on just that recovery. Everything else in the run was very good.

Chains:
L1: 88/94/84
L2: 84/91/88
L3: 84/84/84
LMAO where do I even begin with this run? Lap 1 was incredible. Good driving, a perfect low cut, and I got the first chain on the straight. I got a full drop on the final chain of the lap, meaning that I could cut at least 0.095 from this lap, which would have beaten my best split of 39.336.
Lap 2 was abysmal. Horrible driving and a missed low cost an insane amount of time. I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be the worst split ever in a 1:58, although I am not sure.
Finally, lap 3 was actually pretty good, but had a full drop on every single chain. This lost almost 0.3 on the last straight alone. It really shows just how much potential this run had; it had a chance to be a 1:58.6 up until the last straight, even with the massive amount of time lost on lap 2. For this reason, I am not done here, but will be taking a break since Ive been going for this for quite a while now.
If youre curious as to how I know just how much certain chains lose, it is because of a spreadsheet that I made a while back: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WvmE20_h-On8FCeei2KtsDDpL9shlrOJvkJ4Jqt_okA/edit?usp=sharing

So happy to have Italian Record if I was Italian on mapple treetrunk. Its also probably the best run Ive ever seen on any track in any game ever hands down. [MKWii IRIIWI] Maple Treeway - 2:03.301](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/abRdAJ0GG9k/mqdefault.jpg)

9th American at time of upload.
Pretty happy to get this run and finally get regionals. Im still going for 1:58 though. Best lap one is a 39.343, and best lap 2 is 39.655. Not sure what my best lap 3 is but it can go down to like a high .1 for me right now. [MKWii] Bowser Castle 3 (SC) - 1:59.230](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cmcmnhWhdkc/mqdefault.jpg)
