This is part two of my live Packet Node Build Series. LAst week we configured Windows Server 2022 to have the optimal settings for a dedicated packet radio RMS gateway. This week we look at splitting a physical com port up into several virtual ones so that several applications can use the same radio. We will also download and install VARA, VARA FM and Dire Wolf. We do some tweaks to these applications to allow several instances to run at once. This is all getting ready for next week where we will start linking actual applications to the modems, and look at the process of requesting to be an RMS/Winlink SysOP.
