Eyrie Ambience 2025-08-12 | A while ago I saw the movie Reminiscence and there was a particular scene, set in a clock repair shop, that I kept rewatching simply for the sounds. I enjoyed them so much I was inspired to try and incorporate that feeling of being surrounded by numerous, varied, antique clocks into a video.

So here we find ourselves in the lounge of the clock collector. There are many clocks acquired from various travels, and set to different time zones around the world. I hope you enjoy it!

Eyrie Ambience 2025-07-12 | Welcome to the Old Forest, located between the Shire and the Barrow-downs. It is the last remnant of an ancient woodland dating back to the First Age. The trees of this woodland are somewhat awake, holding memories of the destruction they have endured, so they are not fond of strangers in their midst. Travelers must be wary as the paths may shift and the vegetation may stretch and grasp. Here you find yourself being ushered to the valley of the Withywindle in the heart of the forest. Branches creak and sway though there is no wind, and from time to time strange hollow sounds come out of the distance, as if the trees themselves are roaming.

'If you mean the old bogey-stories Fatty's nurses used to tell him, about goblins and wolves and things of that sort, I should say no. At any rate I don't believe them. But the forest is queer. Some of the Noldor, in a dramatic tale of revenge, deceit, and tragedy, braved the journey across but endured great losses in the process. Here we find ourselves in the midst of ice floes, hearing the sounds of icebergs groaning and grinding in the depths. Grey and white is all that can be seen under a sky cloaked by clouds and mists.

On this fine spring morning Gandalf has just returned after a nine year absence and is telling Frodo of his travels, the history of the Rings of Power, and what he has learned of how the One Ring came to be in Frodo's possession. This very day marks the beginnings of a plan to do something about it. One might feel these are heavy subjects for such a lovely setting, but you are welcome to stay awhile and enjoy the sounds of the crackling fireplace, a windy spring morning, and Sam happily cutting the grass outside the open windows.

Nienna is one of the Valar, the powerful spirits of Tolkien's world. She is a sort of angel/goddess of grief, mourning, compassion, and mercy. In the earlier ages Gandalf spent a lot of time here and from her learned "pity and patience." The Silmarillion - Angband Ambience - Lúthien faces Morgoth (4K) | dark, unsettling soundscape

Eyrie Ambience 2024-11-19 | We return to the tale of Beren and Lúthien at a most perilous juncture. On their quest to retrieve a Silmaril from the crown of Morgoth, they have arrived at the fortress of Angband, deep in the mountains of Thangorodrim. Beren remains in disguise as a werewolf while Lúthien begins to lull Morgoth to sleep with her song.

***I realize there should really not be windows in this hall, but I have learned the hard way that scenes that are too dark will be greatly degraded by the compression during upload (even in 4K!), so I opted for some grim lighting by way of windows to minimize this problem. I hope you can forgive me this deviation.

In one such cave there is a deep, cold lake with an island in the center, inhabited by a creature known as Gollum. Here we find Gollum perched on his island, seething with rage, having just discovered that his precious ring is missing. In the light of Sting's glow you can just make out the scene.

Eyrie Ambience 2022-09-08 | Welcome to this woodland glade, deep in the forest of Neldoreth. Lúthien was the daughter of Melian the Maia and Thingol the Elf. She often enjoyed dancing in the woods and on one such occasion encountered Beren, a human, and they eventually fell in love. They became the first elf-human union and their lives and deeds were truly legendary. Here we find ourselves in a peaceful part of their story, enjoying a lovely glade in the woods as birds sing and flowers spring up by virtue of Lúthien's supernatural presence.

Eyrie Ambience 2022-08-25 | Welcome to Amon Rûdh, a lone, towering hill located in the moors west of Doriath. The only thing that grew on its top were the red flowers called seregon. The Petty-dwarves delved a secret dwelling near the top, and Turin Turambar spent some time here with his band of outlaws and the elven warrior Beleg. During their time the surrounding area was known as the "Land of Bow and Helm", as they fought against the marauding forces of Morgoth. Here we sit on the moors as the moon rises over the hill in the distance, and sounds of a waterfall and stream fill the night air.
