The Ozone is a scratchbuilt foamboard radio-controlled UAV for FPV flight. It is specialized for carrying a camera payload of 1-2 lbs for about 30 minutes flight duration.
The FPV camera is located in the nose of the left-hand boom, leaving the central main pod open for mounting a GoPro or other camera in different orientations. Controls are simplified to ailerons and dual-servo elevator. Wings remove, vertical stabilizers fold, and landing gear retract for storage and transport. The DragonLink receiver is located inside the right-hand boom and the dipole antenna is mounted on the right vertical stabilizer.
The motor is an RCTimer 3536-8 1000Kv outrunner which draws around 400 watts of power and produces 1600g of static thrust with a very quiet Master Airscrew 10x7 3-bladed propeller. Usual battery configuration is 3 or 4 2200mAh 3 cell LiPo packs in parallel.
The landing gear are foam wheels with fiberglass RC helicopter blades and are easily swapped out on location in case of failure.
Although it uses all off-the-shelf Experimental Airlines style fuselage tubes and Armin Wings, this is probably not a plane for beginner builders. I don't plan a formal build video but please do feel free to ask any questions.
This plane was designed with a particular FPV video mission that happens at the end of August 2012 that requires long-duration, relatively slow flight over a very flat but extremely abrasive location that demands a high level of safety and robust landing gear.
