Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the latest first-person shooter in the Call of Duty franchise, developed by Sledgehammer Games, High Moon Studios, and with multiplayer development by Raven Software. It is available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.
In a departure from past Call of Duty games, which have focused on realism, Advanced Warfare speculates about what war will be like in 2054. Playable soldiers use a customizable exoskeleton, most notable for its mobility features that make the game faster and more vertically oriented in the style of sci-fi shooters. Futuristic weaponry includes a gun with a built-in 3D printer for creating extra ammunition, explosive drones, and even lasers.
Multiplayer is designed around the new exoskeleton abilities as well as a detailed customization system the franchise is known for. Players can customize their guns with different attachments, pick special abilities earned for a streak of good performance, and change the look of their avatar. The preponderance of futuristic equipment makes multiplayer feel more like science fiction than a simulation.
The game's single player campaign stars a marine, Jack Mitchell, who is deployed to South Korea after North Korea invades. After a grisly wound, a private military company Atlas headed by Jonathan Irons (voiced by Kevin Spacey) gives Jack a cybernetic prosthetic and a chance to work for him. Contracted by the United States, you and your squad-mates fight terrorism and are asked difficult questions about the role of private military companies in the world.
