In this video I’ll demonstrate and discuss the processes I used for overlapping the vectors I want to carve for an epoxy inlay in Vectric Cut2D Desktop, Cut2D Pro, VCarve Desktop, VCarve Pro, and Aspire.

First I’ll show you why we need to overlap vectors in the first place, then I’ll demonstrate the simplest way to overlap vectors in an easy pattern Then I’ll show you some ways of handling the not-so-easy ways of overlapping vectors. I’ll then get into organizing these vectors by utilizing multiple layers.

Then I’ll show you how to get in and edit the vectors in Node Editing Mode, demonstrating how add points, change vector types, and smooth vectors. I’ll show you how to take a vector from the almost useless SVG file from the last video, and use it to our advantage.

Finally, I’ll simplify the vectors using the Curve Fit tool, deleting some points, and changing some curves into straight lines – all in an effort to reduce calculation time, and ultimately machining time.

As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please join me for the Live Q&A, or put ‘em in the comment section below.

On Sunday, February 13th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I’ve covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there!
