Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Message 2025-10-16 10:22:12 HST. Small lava overflows from the south vent occurred this morning at 7:35 AM, 8:50 AM, 9:29 AM. Each lasted ~12 minutes and ended with spattering and drainback. These will likely become more frequent.

Variable glow from both the vents last night.
Continuous termor indicate that magma is at high levels within both vents.
Tiltmeter has recovered a total of approximately 20.6 microradians.

Episode 34 lava fountaining ended October 1 at 7:03 a.m. HST after approximately 6 hours of continuous activity. Minor incandescence of the cones and lava flow field may be observed in the coming days as these recently active areas cool. Kīlauea's summit region resumed inflation following the end of episode 34, indicating that another fountaining episode is possible, but likely more than a week away.
