Nepal’s response to last week’s devastating flash floods is entering a new phase as authorities intensify relief and recovery operations, the United Nations said on Tuesday (September 1). More than 1,000 bodies have been recovered, 3,900 people remain missing and nearly 12,000 have been rescued, U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters. “For thousands of impacted families, the priority is now receiving humanitarian assistance,” Dujarric said, adding that families were also identifying remains, tracing missing relatives and reuniting separated children.
