Heading into Madison Square Garden, just three goals away, the Great 8 played a crucial part in a memorable Caps win. A last-second tying goal by his long-time running mate, Nicklas Backstrom, sent the game to overtime, and in the extra period Ovechkin scored a highlight-reel end-to-end goal for his second of the game and 499th of his career.
