In real violence, you don’t necessarily get to set the conditions, your attacker does.

They choose when, where, how, why, who, what they bring, and how far they’re willing to go.

That reality is why we don’t teach single-range or single-modality solutions. Violence is fluid, chaotic, and adaptive, and as such, our preparation should reflect this. The goal should be in developing the ability to transition seamlessly between techniques, tools, and distances as the pending scenario reasonably dictates.

Integrated combatives (Sayoc terminology) isn’t a preference. It’s a logical necessity.
