Outer Banks is slated to be one of Netflix’s most influential new shows, with season two of the series confirmed to be released sometime early next year. Though, some of our favorite actors may not be returning to the show after season one’s conclusion. Chase Stokes - Fired or Hired?
Chase Stoke portrays the lead character, John B, in Outer Banks. He is a beloved young actor and is adored by many viewers. However, Chase found himself in hot water back in May of 2020 after a series of tweets resurfaced that showed he formerly posted derogatory words about various members of society, supposedly involving the elderly, the mentally disabled, and those of various races. While most of these tweets have been completely removed and no trace of them can be found, Chase still found it important to apologize for his past behaviors and acknowledge that he is flawed. While it's difficult to condone the actions of the newfound cancel-culture, in which users across the globe seek to end careers based on statements individuals made when they were children, or when they were ill-educated, it's great to see Chase own up to his actions and take accountability for his mistakes. Some fans were concerned that Chase would lose his role in Outer Banks, given that Netflix is such a progressive and inclusive company. However, it seems as though he has not been fired from the cast. Instead, Netflix was willing to work with him after he offered to submit a public apology on behalf of his former tweets.
