Our series starts by introducing Caziah Franklin from Nashville, TN; a musician, writer, photojournalist, and player in the outdoors.
Caziah’s grandfather inspired him to explore, telling him at an early age “This place is for us and we just have to break the hinges of fear and systemic issues. These places are available for us and we have the right and privilege to be here.” Caziah’s childhood didn’t have illustrations of the black community within the outdoor community. He wants to be that illustration for the next generation. A big fan of the micro-adventure, he states, "An immersive outdoors that welcomes all: whether that is a short day hike/walk around the block, or a more intense experience of climbing a mountain or participating in extreme sports. Don’t be afraid to immerse yourself in things you don’t understand. Allow yourself to be uncomfortable, break the fear.”
