The Seattle Sounders was drawn into a tough Group B, starting with a 2–1 loss to Brazil’s Botafogo Cristian Roldan scored Seattle’s lone goal with a deflected header where he became the first MLS player to score in this tournament after goals from Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus gave the Brazilians the lead. Against Atlético Madrid, the Sounders fell 3–1, with Pablo Barrios scoring a brace and Axel Witsel adding another, while Seattle failed to find the net. In their final group match, they lost 2–0 to PSG, with goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Achraf Hakimi sealing the result and eliminating the hosts.
