This week marked a major milestone in the Supra project — and honestly, it felt like a bit of a turning point. If you saw our last video, you’ll know things didn’t go exactly to plan. A marine epoxy sealer mishap set us way back, forcing us to strip the car all the way back to bare metal... again. But after a lot of time and effort, we finally had the body prepped and ready.
Once everything was cleaned up, we did a quick car swap and moved the Supra from our shop to Mitsuaki’s body shop a few cities over. It wasn’t exactly a clean drop-off either — the car went over in pieces. But Mitsuaki was up for the challenge.
Shortly after that, Dylan and Reid ended up buying another Supra. At first, there was talk of turning it into a second project car, but after a closer look, it turned out to be pretty rough structurally. Unsafe, even. Rather than sink time and money into a lost cause, we made the call to part it out and use what we could to support Dylan’s build. But not before giving it a proper sendoff — we had some fun with it first (you’ll see what we mean in the video).
The next day, we headed back to Mitsuaki’s shop to help with the final prep before paint. A few hours of sanding, taping, and preparation later, the first coats were finally laid down—and the results were absolutely stunning. The car is starting to look real now.
We’re not quite ready to reveal the colour just yet — we want to save that for when the car is fully reassembled — but Dylan put together some beautiful black-and-white footage in the meantime that captures the moment perfectly. Trust us, it’ll be worth the wait.
This build has been full of highs and lows over the past few months, but as this chapter wraps up, there’s a real sense of momentum. For the first time in a while, it feels like the finish line is in sight — and we couldn’t be more excited to share what’s next.
