The OT world has a mantra that this is not IT where occasional outages are expected. OT needs 24x7 uptime and has been designed with the redundancy and resiliency in mind to achieve this. Reality is stepping in. Andy shows how to prepare and adapt to what is increasingly our interruptible future.

The summer and winter blackouts NERC has been warning about for the past several years are leading to intentional power interruptions – rolling blackouts and brownouts – initiated by the grid operators themselves. Five states now are turning the grid off at times of high wildfire threat. And there is Volt Typhoon and other projected cyber attack scenarios that could cause intentional or unintentional outages.

We will learn to not only live with these interruptions, but that by adapting our business processes and personal lives to creatively accommodate them, we in the US, like the Ukrainians, will become an inherently more resilient nation.
