This episode of the History Channel's "Our Generation" focuses on the Kent State Shootings in 1970, when National Guard troops fired on unarmed students protestors, killing 4.

The show "Our Generation" debuted in 2006, hosted by Steve Gillon. I was a 19-year-old freshman journalism student at the University of Oklahoma at the time. Through a partnership with the OU Honors College, I was given the opportunity to co-host the episode with Steve, and Rachel, another OU student. I'll never forget this 4-day long experience of getting to interview and interact with many first-hand eyewitnesses of the Kent State massacre. The most impactful part of it all to me was meeting and interviewing Dean Kahler, who was hit by a bullet while walking to class and paralyzed from the waist down. His perspective, grace and forgiveness amidst total injustice were inspiring. For anyone who does not know what happened at Kent State, take the time to watch this powerful look back at history.
