On March 21, 2018, ZeniMax Online Studios announced a full expansion pack based on Summerset Isle, a setting that has not been playable since The Elder Scrolls: Arena.
Like the previous expansion, Morrowind, this is not purchasable with crown points, and must be purchased as a separate title.
The expansion includes a new zone, new story line, jewelry crafting and a new skill line based on the Psijic Order.
The expansion was released on May 21, 2018 for Windows and OS X and was released on June 5, 2018 for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
In "The Elder Scrolls Online™", we caught a glimpse of the Altmer’s homeland with Auridon: an island off the coast of the mainland.
For those that don’t know, the Summerset Isle is the homeland of the Altmer: arguably the oldest and most magically advanced race in Tamriel.
It’s been described as a beautiful, alien place.
There are ruins made of coral, skyscrappers made of colored-glass, and advanced, magical technology like sunbirds.
The beautiful isle of Summerset sounds as unique as it looks, and during the new Chapter's development, ESO's Audio Lead Brad Derrick and his team worked hard to fill it with new music, voices, and effects.
The result is an experience designed to wholly immerse you in the home of the High Elves.
To ensure the game is as immersive as possible, the team has a massive sound library that they've developed over the years, resulting in more than 32,000 unique effects.
These include sounds for animations, fixtures, monsters and NPCs, UI, the environment, and more.
Almost every aspect of the game comes with its own unique sound, including multiple variations for some of the game's most common actions.
In addition to the effects and voice-over work for a new Chapter, the team creates new music, including bard songs and an entirely new soundtrack composed entirely by Derrick himself.
For each new soundtrack, the team produces sounds like the Elder Scrolls music you have come to expect, but each one is also an opportunity for the team to create something special and new.
When composing the music for Summerset, Derrick knew what he needed to add to give the Chapter a sound distinct from previous ESO soundtracks: wind instruments.
When the team changed the makeup of the orchestra to include a complete wind section, the difference was immediately noticeable.
This of course includes ESO: Summerset's title theme, which sounds less bombastic and somewhat ethereal in comparison to those produced for previous soundtracks.
An obvious fit for the High Elves of Summerset!
The creation of a new main theme means the return and use of the original Elder Scrolls melody, and it falls to Derrick to take the classic tune and rework it in fresh and engaging ways.
When exploring a new zone, there are myriad unique sounds to experience and enjoy.
The ESO audio team has created something truly special in ESO: Summerset.

Warframe is a free to play cooperative mech shooter developed and published by Digital Extremes.
It has a stronger emphasis on cooperative PvE combat than PvP.
The Warframe soundtrack was composed by Keith Power and George Spanos.
Digital Extremes started the Warframe closed beta for Microsoft Windows on October 24, 2012.
Since then it has had several versions and hotfix releases, and open beta was launched on March 25, 2013.
A PlayStation 4 version was also developed, and was released at the consoles launch in November 2013, while the Xbox One version of the game launched on September 2, 2014.
The PS4 version was ported to Japan on February 22, 2014, followed by the Xbox One version on September 2, 2014.
A Nintendo Switch version was announced in July 2018, to be ported by Panic Button, though no release date was set.
The game is among one of the most-played games available on Steam.
Digital Extremes attributes the success of the title to the frequent updates they are developing for the game and the games fanbase.
Digital Extremes describes the game as a rogue success, as the game is able to secure and sustain a large number of players without gaining significant attention from other people.
More than 26 million players had played the game since launch by April 2016, and by March 2018, five years from its open beta, had reached 38 million players.
In July 2016, Digital Extremes launched its first Warframe-dedicated Tennocon in London, Ontario, an event than drew 1000 players, where they announced news of upcoming features and updates to the game and has since run the event annually.
The game was nominated for Best Ongoing Game at The Game Awards 2017, and won the Peoples Voice Award for Action at the 2018 Webby Awards.
The game was so successful that the developer was bought out by a Chinese consortium that included Arc Games.
The Sacrifice is a main quest that follows the Operators search for the Lotus, who has been taken by Ballas for unknown reasons.
The Operator is aided by a new Warframe, Excalibur Umbra, who possesses unusual anti-Sentient abilities and abnormal memories linked to Ballas and the origin of the Warframes.
The quest was first teased at TennoCon 2017 and was teased on the WARFRAME site.
The Sacrifice was released on PC June 14, 2018 with Update 23.0. PS4 and Xbox One received it 3 weeks later, on July 5, 2018.
