Bit of a read but for those who want a bit more info about settings and the run itself, as well as future goals and youtube uploads:
s40 is the massive goal for Inferno Speedrunners right now, there's only a handful and I'm the 5th player to attain one, this is currently 3rd place behind VisuallyMatt (39.12.0) and Scotty (38.51.0). My general goal for Inferno includes staying Top 10, but this milestone was one I've wanted for a long time.
There's a bunch of new gear coming in the next few months with OSRS updates, particularly Yama and then the Delve boss.
We're getting a slot save (considering another brew or maybe Webweaver).
We're getting slash accuracy armor (unsure if it's good for Inferno yet).
We're getting tribrid bis boots (will give some nice maxes for Inferno).
Hoping to see another 5 players join the s40 club for a total of 10 by the end of the year. There's also some potential for Jagex to be changing tasks so if you die on task you don't lose it - a huge immediate fix for Inferno and Fight cave enjoyers and amazing for anyone who's interested in starting their speedy journey. (In the long run I'd love to see a proper Slayer overhaul and Turael alternative but this is good enough at this point lol.
As far as this run and getting to the point where it was dooable, I'd been grinding it somewhat since the beginning of the year and took some time more recently to run a set of tasks offstream each day since I'm pretty easily distracted by chat and wanted to up the quality of my focus.
This current Inferno meta is very "effort" focused, with lots of small factors and decisions paying dividends down the road if you're willing to do the actions and the switches. Maximising Scythe usage and going for a bit of potential has been the name of the game and over-blowpiping or chinning has its downfalls. Overall I probably had around ~7-8 runs that were potential for s40 - basically a run that gets to Jads onwards (the rng bosses), and ofc this was the first that also ended up having a crazy zuk and finish to it. Always lucky!
