Celebrating death - a revolutionary proposal by Osho - is practiced for many years when an OSHO friend or sannyasin dies at the Osho International Meditation Resort.
When our friend Deva Rupa died last week many visitors at the meditation resort had their first experience of a celebration send-off ceremony 'Osho Style". Her body was carried into the OSHO Auditorium for a short celebration and then carried through Koregaon Park to the burning ghats where the body was cremated in an ongoing celebration of music singing and silence.
This little video shows a few highlights of the event and gives an idea of how the end of a fulfilled life is celebrated.
"And celebrating death will help you to understand that there is nothing in life to be afraid
of. If death is a celebration, then what else can be a cause of fear? And if you can celebrate death, you have attained a maturity.
It is possible only to those who live life as a rejoicing, a constant celebration. Then death is not the termination, but only a small incident of changing your clothes, your house, your body. But you remain exactly the same forever -- nothing changes in your intrinsic being. From eternity to eternity you are exactly the same." - Osho.
