OSCAL PowerMax 1800 SE review and real-world 1800W load test for camping, off-grid sheds, home backup and rural work.
I test appliances, solar charging, a camping fridge, power tools — and discover whether this 1kWh power station can actually run a welder.
The OSCAL PowerMax 1800 SE is a compact portable power station with just over 1kWh of battery capacity and an 1800W normal maximum output. Rather than simply reading the specifications, I put it through the kinds of jobs people may actually want it to do.
We start inside with a kettle, coffee machine, toaster and microwave before deliberately pushing the unit hard enough to activate its protection system.
Then we take it outdoors.
I connect solar panels while running a camping fridge to see how pass-through charging could work during a camping trip, examine the outlets and practical features, and look at whether a smaller power station makes sense for an off-grid farm shed.
Finally, we connect power tools and a compact Weldclass welder. This was the test that surprised me.
