Here is another observation I made during my trip to Hawaii. And again, you can see the curve. Great thanks to Alan Evans and Sly Sparkane

REPORT ON THE PREPARATION OF HAWAII PANORAMIC IMAGE
Method
The image was generated using the following original JPEG format files in the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space: DSCN0468.jpg through to DSCN078.JPG. Files were supplied by BMFurball and I believe them to be as generated by the camera, as per the included metadata.
The files were selected in Adobe Bridge Version 9.1.0.338 and opened into Adobe Camera Raw Version 11.3.0.197. All images were selected, and adjustments made to ensure that the required image enhancements were possible. The images were then saved as pseudo-RAW files in the Adobe .DNG format as DSCN0478.dng through DSCN0468.dng
The .DNG files were then in turn opened in ACR and all the images were selected. I then initiated a merge to .DNG operation (Ctrl+M). The Perspective Projection option was selected, as this was the only projection that would stich all the images. Spherical and cylindrical projection options would not stich the left most five images. All other options were left unchecked. The resulting merged image is 27598×3828 pixels. The image was saved as DSCN0468-Pano.dng.
One of the benefits of creating the panorama from a set of pseudo-RAW images is that the stitching algorithm can automatically match both the total exposure and the white balance of all the images. This is useful as the original exposures were made in the camera’s fully automatic mode, with the inclusion of auto white balance (AWB). This led to a considerable variation in both exposure and WB between the different exposures. In addition to these exposure and WB corrections that were applied as part of the stitching process, the following corrections were then applied to the panoramic image in ACR:

Highlights -100.
Texture +30.
Clarity +25.
Dehaze +75.
Vibrance +20.
Sharpening
Amount +75.
Radius 1.0.
Detail 0.
Masking 100.
Colour Noise Reduction
Amount 25.
Detail 50.
Smoothness 50.
Remove Chromatic Aberration.

At this point a JPEG image was exported from ACR (Hawaii Pano DNG 01.jpg (27598×3828px)). The following export settings were used. Quality level 10, sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space, No resizing, and Output Sharpening: Screen, Standard.
The image was then cropped to remove the white space, and an auto level operation was also applied. This resulted in an image of 27402×3061px
Two final JPEG exports were made of the cropped image using the following settings.
For the first image the export settings used were: Quality level 10, sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space, No resizing, and Output Sharpening: Screen, Standard (Hawaii Pano DNG 01a.jpg (27402×3061px)).
For the third export the settings were: Quality level 10, sRGB IEC61966-2.1 colour space, Resizing: Short Edge 1080px, and Output Sharpening: Screen, Standard (Hawaii Pano DNG 01b.jpg (9668×1080px)).
