Among events marking its 80th year, Oak Ridge National Laboratory held a panel discussion on Oct. 4, 2023, with Alan Carr, historian at Los Alamos National Laboratory; D. Ray Smith, historian for the city of Oak Ridge; and Dick Groves, grandson of Manhattan Project General Leslie Groves. Interim ORNL Director Jeff Smith introduced the panel, which was moderated by David Keim, the laboratory’s director of communications and community engagement. The discussion was held in the Iran Thomas Auditorium at ORNL’s Spallation Neutron Source.
