The pain of being alone is a heavy burden to bear for one so young.

This particular piece is the anthem of perhaps one of the most tragic characters in "Sanctuary", the novel I've been working (rather slowly, I must admit) on with my best friend. Ezhno is a young man forced into the role of the king when his adoptive father falls ill and dies mysteriously. He's probably one of the better examples of a grief-driven character in the book, albeit a quieter and more reserved look into what grief can do to someone.

I dunno, maybe someday I'll write themes for each of the main characters of Sanctuary (there are six!!!) and make it into an EP or maybe an album. Either way, it's a fun way of exploring the characters in a different medium.

I had spent some time developing a template for FL Studio, and this is the first test of that template. I'm really happy with it! It's the first time I was able to effortlessly switch between articulations for the strings instead of banging my head on a wall when dealing with Finale.

Don't get me wrong, I still love writing in Finale since sheet music makes the most sense to me, but maybe someday I will be able to more easily visualize rhythms in the piano roll style of FL Studio.
