In our 101 Jobs That Change the World series, we met five people working in some of the world's most amazing science facilities. Some of them have jobs you'd never think of being connected to science - but they all have a part to play in the amazing research in their workplaces. Katy Rumm works as a chef at the Rothera Research station in Antarctica. Her challenge is to provide researchers and staff with great nutrition and tasty meals, with just the ingredients kept in Rothera's stores.

Bruce Griffith is a farm manager at Rothamsted Research's North Wyke Farm in Devon. Like most farm managers, he's great at keeping things running smoothly - but instead of producing food, his farm generates data on the environmental impact of livestock farming.

Every workplace has a Health and Safety Officer - but Anna Lawton's got extra responsibilities. She works at the Pirbright Institute, where scientists study viruses that infect animals. Her work keeps staff and the general public safe from dangerous pathogens.

Paul Cesar is an Infrastructure Manager at RAL Space. He takes care of vast testing chambers where satellite components are put through extreme tests to ensure they can survive the harsh conditions of space.

Emma Meehan has an unusual commute involving a seven minute ride in a lift and a walk through a mine. She works 1.1km underground at Boulby Underground Laboratory, where she helps physicists build dark matter detectors.
