Orangutans are only found in the wild in the two island nations of Borneo and Sumatra, and yet even in those countries, where the great apes are an important component of the tourism industry, many orangutans are losing vital rainforest habitat that’s being converted to land for palm oil plantations and these red headed relatives of ours are an endangered species. Here’s a film I shot about the plight of the orangutans for National Geographic a few years ago.
