Canada’s water systems are under growing pressure — from climate change and aging infrastructure to ever-increasing demand. Improving the ways we treat and manage water and wastewater are essential to protecting both public health and the environment.

At Carleton University, Professor Onita Basu and her team of graduate students are developing practical, low-cost ways to optimize water treatment. By studying real-world contaminants and testing sustainable technologies, their research is helping communities adopt cleaner, more efficient systems.
