Operation Koltso (Operation Ring) was the final offensive against the 6th Army in Stalingrad. The Soviet Red Army predicted it would all be over in just 6 days, however Axis resistance was fierce, and so it actually went on far longer than expected. Nonetheless, this was the beginning of the end of Paulus' 6th Arm
