Yo, we back.
This one has been on the horizon for a while. I've been scripting this one since the last two Operation Black Steel episodes for months, and really struggling with how communicate and address such a sensitive topic. Not only for my audience, but for myself.
The Boondocks is the brainchild of Aaron McGruder, and the obsession with preachers, Jesus and ideas pertaining to faith have no only been inherent elements of the first season of the show, but by extension, Black Jesus and this series also. I've wanted to talk about it for a while now. The relationship spirituality, faith and the concept of God have with black folk and our struggles.
There's a lot of research that goes into stuff like this, and I never want to do a disservice to my audience with my content by not properly researching something. This extends far beyond Christianity, but history, spirituality, the 5 Percent Nation, Khalil Gibran and a bunch more. Without saying much, there's a lot of things cut from this video to condense the point and remain focused.
Operation Black Steel is 10 episodes strong now. And, something that has never been lost on me is the responsibility I have to not only know what I'm talking about, but the ability to back it up and communicate it clearly. Long descriptions aside, I hope you guys enjoy/enjoyed today's episode. It was a wild one to make.
